The story of KiKi's Out of School's Club

Hunts Grove Primary Academy opened in its new school building in September 2019, the same year Vicki's son Jack started the school in Reception Class. There was no After School facility in site at that time. Vicki, a registered childminder, loved caring for children, began to take children back to her home, but as more families sought her help, it quickly became too much for one home. Determined to create a safe and fun space for the children, she began hiring a classroom at the school. The club was a hit! More and more parents relied on it, and soon, the school asked Vicki to take over the breakfast club too.

As the club grew, Vicki took the next big step—registering with Ofsted to ensure everything was official and up to high standards. Then came the biggest challenge of all: lockdown. With so many restrictions, children were struggling to socialize and see their friends. Knowing how important this was, KiKi’s launched its first holiday playscheme in Summer 2020, giving kids a safe place to play, connect, and just be kids again.

The company name Kiki's Kidz was inspired by the adorable way young children often pronounce 'Vicki' as 'Kiki,' capturing the playful and innocent spirit of childhood. Our name reflects the fun and creativity of working with children.

Today, KiKi’s Out of School Club continues to thrive in Hunts Grove Primary. KiKi's Playschemes are now a regular feature, mainly running at Hempsted Primary, with plans to expand further at Hunts Grove. What started as a small childminding service has grown into a vital support for families, creating a fun, welcoming space for children to learn, laugh, and grow!

At KiKi’s Kidz, our core values focus on creating a nurturing and engaging environment where children can thrive. We believe in giving children the freedom to self-express, allowing them to build confidence and develop their unique personalities. Free play is at the heart of what we do, encouraging creativity, independence, and social interaction in a relaxed setting.

We strive to ensure that every child has fun while enjoying a variety of activities, from imaginative arts and crafts to exciting sports and games. Our goal is to provide a space where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to explore new interests, make friends, and develop essential life skills—all while having a fantastic time!

MEET THE TEAM

We have an amazing team dedicated to providing the best care and experiences for children. During term time, we have a team of regular staff who work on set days, ensuring consistency and familiarity for the children.

For our holiday playschemes, we expand our team by bringing in additional holiday club staff, including members of our core team and staff from Hempsted Primary. This approach helps maintain continuity of care, allowing children to feel supported by familiar faces who know them well. By building strong relationships, we create a warm, welcoming environment where every child feels comfortable, valued, and encouraged to thrive.
